Alberta Habitat Fund

Preserving Alberta’s Natural Heritage for Future Generations

For decades, the Alberta Habitat Fund (AHF)—formerly known as the Wildlife Trust Fund—has played a vital role in conserving Alberta’s fish and wildlife habitat. As Alberta’s oldest and most well-respected land trust, we hold or co-manage over 100 properties spanning more than 50,000 acres across the province, from southern Alberta to the northern reaches near Manning.

A Legacy of Conservation

AHF properties are managed to protect critical ecosystems that sustain Alberta’s wildlife. These lands also offer year-round recreational opportunities for Albertans to experience the outdoors. AHF properties are open to the public, providing diverse outdoor experiences for all.

What We Protect:
✔ Important habitat for fish & wildlife populations
✔ Publicly accessible lands for outdoor recreation
✔ Conservation areas for future generations

Visitors can:

Hunt & Fish responsibly
Hike, Birdwatch & Forage in nature
Snowshoe & Wildlife Watch in winter

Respecting the Land

To ensure these lands remain protected for all Albertans, we ask visitors to follow Leave No Trace principles, including:

No overnight camping or open fires where such restrictions apply
Foot access only – no motorized vehicles
No target practice or firearm sighting-in
Pack out all garbage & respect wildlife
